Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Over a decade ago, Subaru became the first U.S. auto manufacturer to become zero-landfill, and now, in collaboration with the National Park Service and the National Parks Conservation Association, Subaru is leveraging that same environmental expertise to help the National Parks reach zero-landfill too.

Illinois CancerCare Foundation Blanket Delivery  –  Michelle M

On a warm, humid morning in Bloomington, IL, Grossinger Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Illinois Chapter joined forces and had the pleasure of delivering 80 blankets and 30 arts & craft kits to the Illinois CancerCare Foundation as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. After unloading the packages and taking a few photos of the exchange, Jeff, the Subaru representative, and Michelle of LLS were able to speak with a few patients while giving them a blanket. They all seemed so grateful to receive the blanket. We discussed the warm weather outside, learned about what surrounding area they lived it, and how they were feeling that day. All said they were looking forward to using the blanket, some planning to take it home, and some wanted to use it at the facility during the next treatment. It was a nice way to spend a Friday morning, chatting about day-to-day activities. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the Illinois CancerCare Foundation’s staff as well, who were thrilled to distribute these comforting gifts to their patients. Many thanks to everyone at Grossinger Subaru, not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Spreading Hope  –  Sue W

What a wonderful day of delivering hope and blankets to Bloomington Cancer Clinic. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is proud to partner with Grossinger Subaru on this project. Subaru staff and LLS volunteer Linda had the opportunity to meet with the cancer clinic staff for a presentation and delivering blankets to patients of the location. The patients and families absolutely loved the experience, were brought to tears and had great expressions of joy on their faces. One special patient is currently undergoing treatment and often attends treatment alone. Sadly, his family is unable to attend appointments with him. In some ways, he is going through his cancer journey alone. He truly loved the gift of a blanket and LLS volunteer, Linda, is planning to help him with his cancer journey by attending an upcoming appointment. Thank you, Subaru - you are bringing light to the darkness of cancer and you helped facilitate a new friendship with support!
