A Kitty's Tale - Jane K

The wonderful team at Subaru of Bloomington/Normal went above and beyond to help a two month old kitten who happened to get into their showroom the other day! I am the shelter manager for the Humane Society of Central Il in Normal. I received a call about the little one and told them to bring it over to the shelter. Thanks to their compassion this kitten will be cared for and go through the vetting process to soon be adopted out to a forever home! Some people may have just shooed the kitten back out their door, but the guys at Bloomington/Normal Subaru went above and saved this little guy from living in the streets!!!

Paws Giving Independence - Donna K

Dear Subaru of Bloomington Normal: On behalf of Paws Giving Independence I would like to thank you for the generous donation to our organization. We are an all volunteer organization, with no paid staff, so all money donated goes directly to the costs of the service dogs in training. The money will go towards adoption fees for the dogs, veterinary costs, bracing harnesses and other training equipment. We are run completely on grants and donations, so this will help us to continue our mission of training service dogs for children and adults with a variety of needs and placing them free of charge to our clients. We started as a non profit in 2008 and are only still here today because of support from the community. Welcome to the PGI team. We are so grateful for this donation. Please contact me with any questions at 309-839-2754. We have a student trainer program with ISU, so if you ever want service dogs in training to come and visit we can have volunteers bring them out. Thank you again for the donation, This link will show you a little of what we do and how your donation will be used. Donna Kosner Paws Giving Independence

Making a difference in eastern Illinois - Amanda B

Subaru of Bloomington-Normal, Serra Subaru of Champaign and Uftring Subaru, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, have teamed up to donate the equivalent of more than 340,000 meals to families facing food insecurity in eastern Illinois. This support helps Eastern Illinois Foodbank provide food to clients such as Lalena, a retired mother of three adult children who now lives alone. Due to chronic health problems, her budget sometimes gets tight, and having access to emergency food allows her to purchase other necessities such as laundry detergent and toilet paper. Lalena visits one of Eastern Illinois Foodbank's partner food pantries in Bloomington to help stretch her budget. She is grateful for the support from Subaru America. "Thank you! It makes a difference if families are eating or not," she said. "A simple act of kindness can make such a big difference in someone's life. It can sometimes mean they can eat a meal that day."

Subaru for Seniors - Jane K

Back in August of 2020 our shelter, The Humane Society of Central Illinois, took in 2 senior cats from a situation where they couldn't be cared for anymore. It is due to the fact that Subaru has the Generosity, Love and Commitment for Pets, that these 2 cats were able to get the veterinary care and be adopted into a new home and remain together. At 10 and 8 years of age these cats along with our many other animals have been given a good life. Thank you Subaru of Bloomington/Normal for helping our shelter continue our mission to: Find loving, forever homes for abused and unwanted pets. Also, to complete our vision which is: For every pet to be properly loved and cared for.

Illinois CancerCare Foundation Blanket Delivery - Michelle M

On a warm, humid morning in Bloomington, IL, Grossinger Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Illinois Chapter joined forces and had the pleasure of delivering 80 blankets and 30 arts & craft kits to the Illinois CancerCare Foundation as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. After unloading the packages and taking a few photos of the exchange, Jeff, the Subaru representative, and Michelle of LLS were able to speak with a few patients while giving them a blanket. They all seemed so grateful to receive the blanket. We discussed the warm weather outside, learned about what surrounding area they lived it, and how they were feeling that day. All said they were looking forward to using the blanket, some planning to take it home, and some wanted to use it at the facility during the next treatment. It was a nice way to spend a Friday morning, chatting about day-to-day activities. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the Illinois CancerCare Foundation’s staff as well, who were thrilled to distribute these comforting gifts to their patients. Many thanks to everyone at Grossinger Subaru, not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Spreading Hope - Sue W

What a wonderful day of delivering hope and blankets to Bloomington Cancer Clinic. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is proud to partner with Grossinger Subaru on this project. Subaru staff and LLS volunteer Linda had the opportunity to meet with the cancer clinic staff for a presentation and delivering blankets to patients of the location. The patients and families absolutely loved the experience, were brought to tears and had great expressions of joy on their faces. One special patient is currently undergoing treatment and often attends treatment alone. Sadly, his family is unable to attend appointments with him. In some ways, he is going through his cancer journey alone. He truly loved the gift of a blanket and LLS volunteer, Linda, is planning to help him with his cancer journey by attending an upcoming appointment. Thank you, Subaru - you are bringing light to the darkness of cancer and you helped facilitate a new friendship with support!
